Christmas Gifts? iPod Touch Is the Most Wanted MP3 Player | DevicePedia.com

Holidays rush! Everybody is looking for something cool in order to offer a nice and fashionable gift. What could be more wanted than a high tech device? iPhone? Oh, yeah! iPod Touch? No problem. Apple’s latest iPod, looks alike the iPhone, but it doesn’t have so many features.

However the Touch has a 3.5-inch touch-sensitive glass screen and is able to connect to Internet via built-in Wi-Fi. I wouldn’t mind to receive one as a present. The Touch features a web browser for surfing the Internet and comes with 8 or 16 GB of storage. iPhone’s applications work perfectly with iPod Touch. So there is a lot of entertainment provided. It plays photos, videos and music, and you also have YouTube. The gadget retails for $299(8GB) and $399 (16GB).

I would certainly opt for the Touch against a Zune or Sony mp3 player, even the price is higher. I have heard about many people who put the Touch on their wish list for Santa. The player can substitute the iPhone in those countries where it wasn’t launched yet.

iPhone Scams: ScamBusters.org Predicts the Top 7 iPhone Scams

iPhone Scams Update #4: August 20, 2007 Here’s the first iPhone urban legend we’ve found: Man Surgically Alters Thumbs to Better Use His iPhone A 28-year-old Colorado man found it difficult to manipulate his iPhone since his thumbs were very large. He believed he had a choice: change to a different device or "whittle" down his thumbs. The North Denver News describes whittling as a surgical procedure that "involved making a small incision into both thumbs and shaving down the bones, followed by careful muscular alteration and modification of the fingernails." Here’s a quote from the original hoax: "From my old Treo, to my Blackberry, to this new iPhone, I had a hard time hitting the right buttons, and I always lost those little styluses. Sure, the procedure was expensive, but when I think of all the time I save by being able to use modern handhelds so much faster, I really think the surgery will pay for itself in ten to fifteen years. And what it’s saving me in frustration -- that’s priceless." http://northdenvernews.com/content/view/922/2/ Editor’s Note: The interesting thing is that many reporters and bloggers reported this story as true... It’s not. You can read why here. http://northdenvernews.com/content/view/925/2/

The Truth is Out: iPhone is Too Cheap

John Gruber thinks that pundits are way off when they describe the iPhone’s unsubsidized $499 price tag as too pricey. Consumers agree, and cite the price of the Apple phone as one of its major turn offs, along with Apple’s exclusive partnership with AT&T. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is one of the loudest proponents of this school of thought. Here he is:

There’s no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance. It’s a $500 subsidized item. They may make a lot of money. But if you actually take a look at the 1.3 billion phones that get sold, I’d prefer to have our software in 60 percent or 70 percent or 80 percent of them, than I would to have 2 percent or 3 percent, which is what Apple might get.

But John Gruber disagrees with consumers and most pundits, and disagree vehemently with the Microsoft CEO and says of him, “Some of these pundits and analysts are morons. Ballmer, however, is a very smart man, but what he’s saying about the iPhone is going to make him look stupid if it’s successful. He clearly doesn’t get what makes the iPhone so appealing, and his dual obsession with the price and business users is baffling.” According to Gruber, Apple is not trying to sell a phone but a smartphone, 10 million of them. iPhone’s $499 and $599 price tags, he pointed out, was the exact same price of iPod Photo (40GB and 60GB) when it first came out.

If consumers, Gruber said, are willing to spend $500 on an iPod, why not a widescreen version with telephony, WiFi and OS X with multi-touch controls?

Apple Iphone : it Will Change you Life

The apple iPhone is a latest mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply pointing your finger at a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log. It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want - just like email. With iPhone, making a call is as simple as touching a name or number. In addition, you can easily construct a favorites list for your most frequently made calls, and quickly merge calls together to create conference calls.

It is unique phone with slim profile and no keys - it has 3.5 inches touch display that uses multy-touch technology for navigation. A sensor controls the orientation of the display, and MAC OS X controls the smart phone’s functionality. It is quad-band GSM/EDGE device with WiFi and Bluetooth, and features 8GB of memory.

Visual Voicemail allows you to go directly to any of your messages without listening to the prior messages. So you can quickly select the messages that are most important to you. IPhone includes an SMS application with a predictive QWERTY soft keyboard that prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than the small plastic keyboards on many smart phones. The iPhone features a 2-megapixel camera and a photo management application that goes far beyond anything on a phone today. Sync photos from your PC or Mac, and you’re ready to browse or email them with the flick of a finger. With iPhone, making a call is as simple as touching a name or number. Handheld and mobile digital electronic devices for the sending and receiving of telephone calls, faxes, electronic mail, and other digital data; MP3 and other digital format audio players; handheld computers, personal digital assistants, electronic organizers, electronic notepads. And there are a number of nice touches as well, including a motion sensor that rotates photos when you turn the phone, and voicemails displayed visually that you can click on and listen to. Technology :: Apple iPhone Bridges Cellular and Land Line Divide

The cellular phone has single-handedly changed the way that we communicate with the world. As more and more people are losing their traditional telephone service in favor of their mobile phone, the next trend in the telecommunications world is the development of Fixed to Mobile Convergence (FMC), which gives you the ability to switch seamlessly from your cellular network to a land line network infrastructure, and back again. It is expected that by the year 2010 the idea of Fixed Mobile Convergence will be common in the telecommunications industry.

With the slipping revenues shared by the traditional telephone companies, combined with the increasing number of people using IP networks to carry date and voice, are creating a model that is transitioning from long distance call, to a model based on a calling person. This may sound confusing but in the end this means the inevitable end of long distance charges when you make a phone call.

With FMC a user would be able to take advantage of the cellular networks outside without ever having to sacrifice connectivity for better mobility. When a user enters an indoor environment which is a place where many cell phone calls get dropped, a converged handset will detect the presence of a wireless network and automatically switches to a lower frequency, keeping the call quality up throughout the change. The key that makes FMC successful is the handset. There are several different models that you can purchase that have the ability to switch from cellular to WiFi networks. As they become more popular the prices begin to decrease, and also are dependant on the types of plans offered by the carrier.

When it was announced that Apple would be releasing their own multi-functional cellular device, it was said that the carrier who would be offering service for the new phone would be Cingular Communications which is now AT&T Wireless. They will likely be the implementers of cellular to WiFi calling plans. One of these current examples of a recently released fixed to mobile convergence is the AT&T Unity Plan. This plan allows subscribers to call anyone nationwide who is also a subscriber of AT&T wireless or wire line free of charge and without restriction.

The Apple iPhone will run on the most recent MAC operating system for the Internet and video functions, and also comes equipped with a digital camera, the ability to run Google maps, texting, conference calling, as well as multimedia messaging. The iPhone will also have Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity to ensure that you are fully connected at all times. I have yet to mention one of the best parts about the iPhone, it is also a video iPod. Apple is going to have a release date for the iPhone in June, 2007. Be sure to be one of the first to get yours at a store near you. The 4GB version will cost you $499 and for double the memory at 8GB it will cost you $599. Be the envy of all of your friends and have the coolest new mobile device that money can buy.

Technology :: Apple iPhone - The Ultimate Gadget

If you have been keeping up with the latest trends and developments in cellular technology, you’ve certainly heard of the new phone from Apple, the Apple iPhone. Although the cell phone market is new territory for Apple, they have released a very impressive product with the Apple iPhone carrying 8GB of memory.

The Apple iPhone has all of the features of the latest smartphones, including text messaging capabilities, an integrated digital camera, as well as the capability to surf the net and check your e-mail. But this isn’t the end of the list, the Apple iPhone features a lot more.

As well as the features listed at the top, the Apple iPhone 8GB offers the latest in cellular technology with an impressive touch screen interface. Using the interface will make you feel like you’ve got your hands on some gadget from outer-space; it’s truly an impressive and seamless way of operating your cell phone.

The basic technology developed for the Apple iPhone originates from the popular Apple iPod. You can not only make calls on your Apple iPhone, but you can also enjoy digital music and play your favorite songs on the sleek cell phone.

If you’re familiar with the Apple video iPod, then you will be suprised to know that the Apple iPhone 8GB also plays a wide variety of videos. You can easily capture high quality video with your Apple iPod and store it directly to the whopping 8GB of memory available to you.

Apple has cleverly decided to take a different direction with their new device by deciding to include the OS X operating for the Apple iPhone. This is arguably the most technologically advanced operating systems ever developed for a cell phone. OS X offers not only high functionality, but also stability and security as well. You will find that the OS X not only improves your overall productivity, but is also easy and fun to use as well.

After dealing with the wide variety of cell phones available on the market today, you will find that there are two common problems found among them. Firstly, there isn’t a lot of space available for the screen, and reading the display on many cell phones can be difficult at best, especially with a huge keyboard that takes up half the space on the cell phone. Apple has evaded and solved this problem by completely eliminating the conventional keypad. The keyboard is seamlessly integrated with the touch screen interface, thus saving your phone space and creating more room for the beautiful display.

When you turn the Apple iPhone sideways, the aspect ratio is 16:9 - exactly the same ratio as many TV shows and movies being made today. What’s neat about the iPhone´s display is that when you turn it sideways, sensors in the phone will automatically adjust the screen so you can read the display from the side. With its embedded feature, you can enjoy wide-screen movies on your small yet big iPhone.

As you can see the Apple iPhone 8GB is the most advanced in cell phone technology. If you love gadgets, you won’t be disappointed with the Apple iPhone 8GB.

Need Iphone Unlimited Downloads? - Get Them All From 1 Site

The iPhone is becoming more and more popular these days, as there is simply so much capabilities in the iPhone. The latest and coolest electronic device can do so much more than a standard mobile phone; it can even access the internet and become a movie player. So after you buy your iPhone, where do you go to find all the media files for your iPhone? The answer is iPhone unlimited download membership websites.

Why join membership sites?

At the start, the only iPhone downloads available were pay per download based. This means that for every iPhone file you download, you will be charged a small fee. These small fees, however, accumulate very quickly and soon become very unaffordable as you want to download more files. Fortunately today, there are iPhone unlimited websites where you can download as many iPhone files as you want for a one time fee, thus creating massive savings for you if you are looking to download many iPhone media files.

Another advantage of iPhone unlimited download websites is that they take copyright issues very seriously, and will ensure that the files its users download are legal. Another advantage is that they will scan the media files for spyware and adware before the files are made available for download by its users. Besides music and movie files, you’ll even get to download games, TV shows, software and a lot more for free. No extra charges will be billed even if you download thousands of files per day.

The only “negative” about these paid iPhone unlimited sites is that you do have to pay a one time membership fee to access all their services. This one time fee is very much worth it though, seeing all the extra services they provide you for as long as you are signed up, while not charging you another cent.

Did you find this information useful? The author has identified the best iPhone download sites on the internet. He runs a website at http://www.review-best.com/iphone/iphonedownloads.htm where he exposes the iPhone download scams and identifies the 4 best iPhone membership websites on the web.

iPhone Cyclone Review

The iPhone is becoming a more and more popular by now, and with its popularity, many iPhone download sites are appearing all over the internet. We recently joined an iPhone membership site called iPhone Cyclone, and in this article, we plan to tell you about our experience with iPhone Cyclone.

1. Fees

iPhone Cyclone is a one time fee membership site, whereby you pay once to become a member and then you won’t have to pay another dollar for your downloads. Your one-time payment will give a lifetime access to unlimited downloads of music, TV shows, videos and games. You should be looking to join iPhone download sites that charge a one-time fee instead of being charged for every file you download too.

2. Media Database

After browsing the media database of iPhone Cyclone, we felt that the database is very big in size. Almost all of the popular titles that we searched for could be found. However there were a couple of rare titles we could not find that we managed to find on other sites. We found many full-length DVD quality movies. Overall, the media database is good.

3. Download speed and quality

The download speed of iPhone Cyclone software is fast. One significant difference we discovered amongst iPhone download sites was that the downloading speed of different sites can vary significantly. While it might not be noticeable at first, as you download more and more files, some sites will slow down your downloads significantly. iPhone Cyclone did not show this problem.

4. Technical support

We also tried to contact the technical support team of iPhone Cyclone, and managed to get a reply from them very quickly. They were very friendly too, and showed that they really wanted to help us resolve our issues quickly (even though we didn’t really have any).

5. Support software

iPhone Cyclone provides converter and download software. You should not join any iPhone download sites that requires you to find your own converter software, since most iPhone sites provide these software today.

6. Ease Of Use

The iPhone Cyclone membership site is easy to navigate, and along with its step-by-step tutorial, makes it one of the easiest to use iPhone download sites. This is a good iPhone download site overall, and the one time membership fee is well worth it.

Free iPhone Movie Downloads

Getting an iPhone can mean a lot of great things, but unfortunately another thing it usually means is that your wallet’s going to be pretty empty for a while. The cost of the iPhone itself coupled with all the "upkeep" expenses can get pretty pricey. Some of it you’ll have to be resigned to...but there are a few things you can do to lower your costs, and one of the biggest ones is to find your downloads for a lot cheaper.

Be honest with yourself: with a beautiful, shiny new iPhone, you’re going to want to have lots of multimedia files to play on the go. With the iPhone pretty much dominating as the best portable handheld media player on the market, it would nothing short of a regrettable waste to NOT have a large selection of hot music, movies, and tv shows to play.

Now, there are plenty of places to get your downloads...but some of them are pretty expensive. I mean, look at iTunes. It’d probably be your first choice to get iPhone downloads, because it’s only natural that two Apple products would go well together. I don’t blame you for thinking of iTunes first, Apple’s done a good job linking their products and services together.

But are you aware that iTunes charges a dollar a song? Okay, okay...so it’s "under a dollar." Like one cent makes all the difference. Still, 99 cents a song is highway robbery. I don’t even know what that translates into in terms of videos and movies...but if they think 99 cents a SONG is fair, I shudder to think of what a movie would cost.

But hey, if you have the money to throw away on iTunes, especially after buying a $500 or $600 iPhone, be my guest. For the rest of us who aren’t in Rich-Land, there are other alternatives.

Now, there ARE plenty of other downloading sites and services out there, but the ones that aren’t illegal are usually rather expensive as well. Finding a really good one that makes it worth not settling for the convenience of iTunes can be a little difficult.

Which is really why I’m even writing this article: to share with you a site that WON’T break your bank or get you busted by the Feds. In fact, the downloads themselves are free and unlimited for life. All you have to pay for is the software, kinda like Limewire...only reliable. Anyways, you can get more information at http://hubpages.com/hub/iPhone_Free_Downloads

10 Awesome iPhone Accessories PC Magazine - Find Articles

10 Awesome iPhone Accessories

PC Magazine, July, 2007 by Jennifer L. DeLeo

We did it. We survived. The Apple iPhone hype is over. No more waking up in the middle of the night in cold sweats, thinking that we missed the release. No more grabbing for our asthma inhalers or keeping caffeine close at hand. Yes, we made it through the iPhone storm. Sigh.

If only it were true. This is likely just the beginning, with the hundreds of iPhone accessories we’re bound to see in the coming months. Heck, even before the device was released there were plenty of iPhone cases and Bluetooth headsets for sale. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up a slew of awesome iPhone accessories, so that you can get the most out of your $600 device immediately.

Here are a couple of the products you’ll find in today’s 10 Awesome iPhone Accessories slideshow:

Apple iPhone Dock The first thing you’ll want to do when you pick up your shiny iPhone is charge it and add some music to its onboard memory. Apple’s iPhone Dock ($49) can be connected via USB port for syncing or charging. Plus, you can use the audio line out to hook up your stereo and listen to the tunes you store on the device. Also included in the package are an Apple USB Power Adapter and Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable.

Top 10 iPhone Apps

The world’s smallest Mac is about to get a lot bigger. Passionate developers have cracked the code to write true native applications for the iPhone, beginning a new era of true binary development for the ground-breaking handheld computer.

There’s only one problem: Apple wants to forbid these developers from doing what they do best. Yes, in the iPhone’s topsy-turvy world, real software development is forbidden-what developers are supposed to do is put together Web "applications" that can be hit by the phone’s Safari browser.

Fortunately, programmers have been pretty ambitious there, too. Web "apps" may not have quite the power and punch of native applications, but they can keep you busy with simple games, let you access gigabytes of music and video, or add instant-messaging to a device that desperately needs it.

One warning: using some of these apps tends to make your iPhone rather toasty warm and completely guts your battery life. If you’re streaming a lot of content over Wi-Fi (say, through Glide or Seeqpod) expect to get no more than a few hours’ use of your iPhone on a charge.

As we scoped out our top iPhone apps, we kept in mind that we’re PC Magazine . So almost everything in our list is Windows compatible. Here are our picks for the Top 10 iPhone Apps—or, in some cases, PC apps to go with your iPhone.

iPhone Hacks & Software – Getting Closer to iPhone Unlocking

With the iPhone news of the Apple launch, the number of iPhone hacks has increased exponentially and a great deal of energy has been put into working through the iPhone software to find where the passwords and the “glue” is for a number of apps. The “Holy Grail” at the moment is iPhone unlocking.

iPhone unlocking is in fact most requested hack, and unlocking means that the iPhone can be used on any network and not just AT&T’s. There have been a couple of claims to have managed this iPhone hack ultimate but so far it’s all just rumors though it seems that a couple are indeed getting close and have managed to gain ownership of the file system. Sieving through the iPhone software and especially the gif images that are embedded seems to be the number preoccupation of any self respecting iPhone hack merchant around the globe.

One writer at GigaOM claims that they have gotten all the iPhone functions working except the telephone, voicemail and text features. To be honest I don’t see the point in all of this, getting an iPhone hack to unlock the beast is not going to be of much use unless you use the iPhone overseas and on top of that you’ll have no 3G support.

Where I do see a value in getting the iPhone software opened up, is that once we have the iPhone unlocked then being able to use the device as an ultimately portable minicomputer working over a wifi network then we have something that’s going to be useful.

On the iPhone news grapevine, it’s not just iPhone hacks that are streaming in thick and fast, there are also a series of full-blown web apps which I have to say is pretty impressive – well done guys! Probably the best one at the moment is the iPhone hack “iChat for iPhone” which provides you with IM capability on AIM. More than that, the iPhone software source is available for this hack and you can host it on your own machine. If you are really serious about keeping up-to-date with the latest in iPhone unlocking and iPhone hacks then check out the iPhone Dev Wiki that seems to me to be the closest to getting an iPhone unlocking hack.

iPhone software that you can download onto your new iPhone can be found at iPhone Applications on the web. Here you’ll find all iPhone software and applications such as iWeather and more games than you can shake a stick at. Unfortunately, until we get iPhone hack that will open up the iPhone to third party applications we are going to have to make do with Apple iPhone software that we’re allowed to play with at the moment.

How long before we have an iPhone hack that will help us unlock the iPhone completely is like asking how long is a piece of string, but with the energy that is being devoted to it, I guess it could be any day now.

iPhone Downloads - 10 Tips on Finding the Best iPhone Download Site

The iPhone is finally here! As a result, many free download sites have popped up that allow for downloading copyrighted material. It is best to avoid these sites as I am sure you do not want the authorities knocking on your door.

However, there are iPhone download membership sites that provide an excellent alternative to itunes. The problem is determining which of these iPhone sites provides the best service. Here are some tips to help.

1. Per iPhone Download Fee vs. One-Time Fee

Many iPhone sites will offer free membership, but then charge you for each file you download, 99 cents or $1.99. If you love your music as much as me, this can get expensive very quickly. Sites that charge a one-time fee are the way to go. You will save a lot of money in the long run.

2. iPhone Music Download Variety

It is true what they say: Variety is the spice of life. You probably want to find an iPhone download site that offers files from all genres of music.

3. File Selection for Movies, TV, and other Media

Having access to a lot of files is perhaps the most important thing to look for if you want to get your money's worth! Fortunately, most iPhone download sites have overwhelmingly large databases, in the range of 100,000,000 files. (That is one-hundred million files!) Also, make sure the site you are looking at offers music, movies, tv shows, games, and software, not just music. Remember, we are trying to get the most for our money!

4. Website Interface

This is an important feature because the easier a website is to navigate, the easier it will be for you to find what you are looking for. Although you cannot see the member's area until you sign-up, you can get a good idea just by browsing around the non-member's area of the site.

5. Free iPhone Software for File Compatibility

A quality iPhone download site should provide you with free software to help you in downloading those movies and mp3s. They should also provide free converting software for files that need to be converted to play on the iphone.

6. Fast iPhone Download Speeds

Does the site offer fast download speeds? Some sites with small servers will put a limit on download speeds in order to allow more people to connect. Look for sites that do not have any such limits.

7. Safety of Files

When downloading anything off the internet, there is always a risk of the files being infected with spyware, adware, or viruses. The best iPod download sites will screen all their files before you download them. Additionally, you may want to have adware scanning software on your computer before you sign up. This is a great back-up just in case any corrupted files slip through the cracks.

8. Reputation

Does the iPhone download site have a good reputation? You can judge this by the credentials they list on their site and through various iPhone related forums.

9. 24/7 Customer Support

Customer Support is a very important thing. The best iPhone download sites will have an extensive FAQ (frequently asked questions) section that covers most common questions. However, don't hesitate to contact a site with a question to determine how long it takes them to respond and in what manner. They should respond to your inquiry within 24 hours. If not, you may want to consider another service.

10. Secure Payment Processing

This usually is not a problem, as most online merchants accept payments through Paypal, Clickbank, or another trusted source. With these companies, you do not have to worry about anyone reading or accessing your personal information.

IPhone Cell Cases – Protect Your Baby From Harm

The Apple iPhone was introduced into the world, at least to the US, on June 29th 2007. Thousands of people clamored to be the first to get their hands on an iPhone and from most accounts, they are very proud of their new acquisitions. Though Apple provided the basic accessories required to use the iPhone, like most special things, it came into the world naked. So after investing $500 to $600 on an iPhone it only makes prudent sense to invest a few extra dollars in an iPhone case to protect it.

Initial product stress tests of the Apple iPhone have been quite impressive. Apple wisely switched to optical grade glass for the innovative touch screen of the iPhone and it is almost impossible to scratch it. Even with a key. This, however, doesn’t mean it should be left unprotected and the rest of the iPhone is still prone to dings and scratches.

The solution to protecting your new iPhone is actually quite simple, though all the talk about skins, cases, wallets, and screen protectors can be a little bewildering. Don’t worry, below are the options available for protecting your iPhone and the good news is that they typically cost much less than your monthly bill with AT&T.

Types of iPhone Cases:

*iPhone Skins -- a skin is just a cover that completely wraps around your iPhone with cutouts to allow you access to the touch screen, main navigation button, as well as the side buttons, charger, and camera. iPhone skins are made from silicone, which is a flexible, yet rugged type of plastic. The benefit of a skin, is that it will protect the surfaces of your iPhone from nicks and scratches and even offer some protection if dropped. However, don’t rely on a silicone skin to offer you complete protection against drops.

IPhone skins come in clear silicone as well as several popular colors ranging from feminine pink to stealth black. Some iPhone skins also come with a screen protector and neck strap, but be sure to check the product details to make certain.

*Phone Cases and Wallets -- a step up in style and convenience is an iPhone case or wallet. Many of these cases also include a belt clip so you can keep your iPhone at the ready. Unlike cell phone holsters, a case or wallet fully protects your iPhone when not in use. Cases and wallets typically come in both leather and canvas varieties and in a wide range of styles. Chose the type that best suits your usage and expresses your personal style. You may even want several cases to match different clothing and occasions!

*iPhone Screen Protectors -- an iPhone screen protector typically is a piece of very thin silicone with an adhesive backing that covers the entire front of the iPhone. Like a skin, it also has a circular cutout to expose the main navigation button at the bottom of the iPhone. A skin can then be placed over the screen protector. Not all iPhone screen protectors are created equal though. The better ones have dust resistant and anti-glare properties. Many iPhone skins and cases already come with a screen protector so you typically don’t need to purchase one separately.

An Apple iPhone is a truly innovative technology product that is a joy to own. Their owners have every right to be proud and can be forgiven, at least for now, for showing them off every chance they get. And you can tell a truly proud and worthy Apple iPhone owner by how they have chosen to dress up and protect their “baby”.

iPhone Tips and Tricks: How to Get the Most Out Of Your iPhone Experience

All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.

1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.

2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click.

3. Rather than posting the full address of internet sites in bookmarks, you can post the equivalent RSS address instead into Apple's RSS reader and save that as your bookmark. This way you can quickly see if there's anything interesting on your favorite site rather than downloading the whole homepage.

4. If you are writing something and the iPhone flags a word as misspelled that you know is not misspelled, cancel the correction 3 times and the word will be put into the dictionary. If you write a lot, this feature is quite useful!

5. The magnifying glass is a nice iPhone tool when you are typing an email or any other text. If you tap once and hold, a magnifying glass will pop up showing you a zoomed in view of your words and cursor. You can now easily place the cursor wherever you want. This makes editing your writing very easy.

6. You can move icons around, but not on the home screen. You have to go to the ipod section. Go to iPod > More > Edit. Now you can drag your icons all around. This can also be done in the phone section.

7. To reset your iphone, hold down the right button and the "home" front button for about 6 seconds. To power it back on, push the top button. This is different than a regular shutdown, which can be done easily by holding the sleep/wake button for 6 seconds.

8. If you get a lot of spam e-mail or other unwanted e-mail, pay attention to this time saving feature. Add a link to Yahoo mail in Safari bookmarks. From there you can check 'delete all' to remove all unwanted e-mails. This is much easier than deleting hundreds of spam e-mails one at a time.

I hope you found these iphone tips helpful. If you have an iPhone and have been wondering how best to fill it up with music and movies, check out Top iPhone Downloads for the latest reviews of iPhone download sites.

The New Apple iPhone - Blessing or Curse?

In just a single weekend, Apple Inc. managed to sell over 500,000 units of its new Apple iPhone. The anticipation was huge, and while there were a few minor glitches - mostly resolved now - the general consensus is that they were worth waiting for.

The advance of this micro-technology in the form of cell phones, mp3 players, PDA's etc., is creating an amazing dependency on pocket-sized devices, and not just for the techies: stay-at- home-moms, children, even retired grandparents are jumping into the new trend with joyful - and addictive - abandon. We've come a long way, baby!

With all this advancement, however, there is still this minor niggle in the back of my brain that is forced to ask, "but is it really safe?" The verdict is still out on this one, with no one so far able to categorically say that this huge increase in brain and eye cancer is NOT related to cell-phone use; that this little hand-held device and the cell phone towers that power it are NOT causing an increase in autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and that these are NOT the issue behind increased infertility, new learning disorders, mysterious illnesses, or even confused bees that can no longer find the hives they've just left.

This new technology behind the Apple iPhone will probably have little or no affect on the retired grandparents as the length of exposure is relatively short. However, young children who are growing up with this micro-technological dependency may well be exposing themselves to some very unpleasant risks. Professor Sir William Stewart, the chairman of the Radiation Protection Division of the Health Protection Agency, said: "I don't think we can put our hands on our hearts and say mobile phones are safe. If there are risks - and we think there may be risks - the people who are going to be most affected are children, and the younger the child, the greater the danger."

The cell-phone companies are assuring us that it's all very safe, to the point where they are now gearing their marketing to younger and younger generations of children, yet they are still putting clauses in their contracts absolving them of any responsibility should there really be issues. And there is also the fact that over sixty people in the medical profession world-wide believe the link between cell-phone use (and other forms of electromagnetic smog) and "mysterious illness" is a big enough risk that they have created the "Freiburger Appeal" requesting that certain precautions be put in place to protect ourselves as much as possible from the effects of the "new pollution" of these EMF's.

Personally, I love the convenience of these new gadgets and can't wait for the day when I, too, can afford the latest model of the Apple iPhone to replace my much used and much loved iPod. However, I hope that by that time someone has come along with the courage and funds to get to the bottom of the question of safety so that the only concern I'll have on that day is finding the time to listen to all the great stuff on my new device.
